JOIN THE LIBRARY FLOAT IN THE BLUE HERON PARADE!

Dear Parent,
The Barrhead Public Library’s Summer Reading Club organizers would like to invite your child to participate in the Blue Heron Parade on Saturday (August 7th).
We ask that kids who wish to participate arrive at the Parade Starting Point by the Kier Care Centre by 9:45am.  The parade will start at 10:00 am, so please don’t be late.
If there is enough space, the children will be riding on the float. If there are many children who wish to participate, then we will be walking alongside the float. We ask that kids do not bring their bikes.
It’s a pretty long route, so make sure you sunscreen your child. If it’s cold, make sure you bring a sweater.
For those children wishing to participate will receive a free Jungle T-shirt as well as a Jungle hat!  For those children who already have a Destination Jungle T-shirt, please wear it!
We will be throwing lots of candy, so come ready to party!

Destination Jungle: Adventure in Progress!

Hey Party Animals, Let’s Go Bananas! Come monkey around at the Library this summer!
Join us for a journey exploring exciting & exotic creatures in the deepest jungle through stories, games and crafts. It’s going to be a swingin’ good time - no lion!

  • Daily programs are running Monday to Friday, 2 to 3pm, at the Library ‘til August 12th
  •  Recommended for ages 5 to 12
  • Register in advance ($5 for the whole summer) or drop-in any day for $1
  • A limited number of Destination Jungle T-shirts are still available - $4 each

Don't hesitate to drop by for a try, there's lots of friends in the jungle!

In celebration of our 60th anniversary this year, the Barrhead Public Library is pleased to present our new website! Intuitive and user-friendly, this website is designed to simplify and streamline the online library user experience.
Make sure to check out some cool new features, such as our blog and photo gallery, and the integrated TRAC catalogue search. The ‘YRL Recommended Reading List’ on our homepage features new picks regularly – log in with your library card for easy ordering of these titles.

All This Summer - Get Caught Reading!

A photo competition for Barrhead students and staff. Email us a picture of you reading this summer and we will print it and put it on display in the library in September. Best photo wins a cool prize! And it doesn‘t have to just be you in the picture…get your friends and family in on it too - reading of course! Enter as often as you like. Get Caught Reading (summer1@barrheadpubliclibrary.ca).

HOW TO ENTER:

  1. Read as much as you can! Remember you read all the time - in the car, in the kitchen, on vacation! Read alone or with a friend, family member or even your pet!
  2. Snap a good picture of you (and others) reading this summer
  3. Email it to summer1@barrheadpubliclibrary.ca (Put CAUGHT READING in the subject line and DON‘T FORGET YOUR NAME and PHONE NUMBER!)
  4. Check out the display when school starts again! And if you get a phone call it means there is a cool prize for YOU!
